Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana, 26, dismissed from the Cameroonian selection at the 2022 World Cup for "indiscipline", announced his international retirement in a message on Twitter on Friday.

“Every story, no matter how beautiful, has an end.

And my story with the Cameroon national team has come to an end,” he explained.

At 26 and 34 caps, the Inter Milan goalkeeper is ending his international career after a 2022 World Cup tarnished by exclusion from the group for "indiscipline", without specifying the reasons for this dismissal.

But Onana was then removed from the group for "indiscipline", announced the Cameroonian coach, Rigobert Song, on November 28, after the second pool match against Serbia (3-3).

"In a group you have to respect the rules, I prefer to preserve the group than the individualities," said the coach in particular at a press conference after the meeting.

The Inter Milan goalkeeper did not specify in his farewell message the reasons which, according to him, led to his ousting.
