30 thousand runners in the Zayed Charity Marathon in Alexandria

The seventh edition of the Zayed Charity Marathon, which was held yesterday morning in Alexandria, Egypt, achieved great success, with a record participation of more than 30,000 competitors.

The race started in front of the Alexandria International Stadium (the oldest stadium in Egypt and Africa) and was established in 1929. It was preceded by the establishment of the Marathon Gate, which received the contestants, as the stadium management celebrated this year the 100th anniversary of its founding, under the name of the Marathon Gate.

The participation was wide from all walks of life and segments of the Egyptian people, as an expression of their love and appreciation for the founder of the state, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “May God rest his soul in peace,” and whose name the marathon bears.

Lieutenant General (M) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Zayed Charity Marathon, attended the race activities and participated in the coronation of the first-place winners, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Maryam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt, Major General Muhammad Taher Al Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, and Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Egyptian Navy, Aref Hamad Al-Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and a number of officials from the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alexandria Governorate, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Salem Ahmed won the first place for a distance of 10 km for men, and in the women’s category, Amina Bakhit won the first place.

In the category of men for people of determination, Waleed Jaber won the first place.

In the Women of Determination category, Hoda Ahmed won.
