Middle six Christoffer Brännberger looks to have finished playing for the season.

He received a blue card (more serious version of red card) after elbowing Hallby's Oskar Hedvall in the face during a match on Monday.

Now the incident has been reviewed by the disciplinary board - which chooses to suspend Brännberger until April 22.

This means that he misses the rest of the regular season, which for Önnered ends on March 31.

- We have reasoned that this is a serious offense that involved physical injury and that could have involved more serious physical injury than it did, says Pierre Grubbström, chairman of the disciplinary board, to Gothenburg Posten.

Previously punished

It is not the first time Brännberger has been suspended.

As recently as October, he was punished with an eleven-match ban (shortened on appeal) for a punch to the neck of an opponent.

He has the opportunity to appeal to the National Sports Board this time as well.

Earlier on Thursday, Brännberger spoke about the incident.

- A few years ago, the nose of a teammate of mine in Sävehof was broken during a similar situation in a match against Hallby.

What was his punishment from the disciplinary board?

Nothing, of course, he then told Göteborgs-Posten.

SVT Sport has applied for Christoffer Brännberger and those responsible in Önnered.
