Junsuzu Kida, who participated in the Tokyo Olympics in rhythmic gymnastics and was expected to play an active role in the next Paris Olympics as a key Japanese athlete, will retire.

This was announced by the Japan Gymnastics Association on the 21st.



Kida is 21 years old from Kagawa Prefecture.

When she was 5 years old, she started competing in local clubs and is known for her ability to perform with quick movements and dexterity with apparatus.



In 2013, when she was in her first year of junior high school, she became the youngest person ever to win both the hoop and club events at the All Japan Championships, and she also finished second in the individual all-around.



She finished 11th in the individual all-around last year, when she competed for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics, and finished 8th at last year's World Championships.



At the All Japan Championships in October this year, he won the individual all-around for the fourth time, and was expected to play an active role in the Paris Olympics the year after next as a key player in Japan, but he will retire from active duty at the age of 21.

The reason for her retirement has not been disclosed.



Kida announced a comment, saying, "I don't think I could have continued the competition so far without the support of the people around me. I will do my best to become a force in the rhythmic gymnastics world.”
