Criticism has been massive against the newly started LIV tour in golf.

It has been about the huge sums and that the money comes directly from the Saudi state, a regime accused of human rights violations.

Now it is clear that the stars who left the PGA Tour for Liv Golf will get the chance to compete in The Masters, the year's first major competition.

- Unfortunately, events have divided professional golf and diminished the character traits and heritage that built the game, writes Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley.

The competition takes place in April and it is not yet clear who will be allowed to compete.

The invitations are sent out during the Christmas week.

- We will send in those who qualify under the current criteria.

But just like we said before, we are always looking at possible changes.

In that case, we will announce this in April, writes Fred Ridley.
