The season opener of the Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup was held in the United States, and the men's Kaiho Hirano and the women's Mitsuki Ono both finished 3rd in the Japanese team, and got off to a good start.

The half-pipe snowboarder competes in the height and difficulty of jumps called "airs" while skiing on a half-cylindrical course.
