Germany's best downhill skier Kira Weidle raced onto the podium for the first time this winter.

The 26-year-old ski racer from Starnberg presented herself much more aggressively one day after her sobering 24th place and took third place at the World Cup in St. Moritz.

The victory went to the exceptional Italian athlete Sofia Goggia, who didn't let herself be stopped by a broken hand on Friday.

Ilka Stuhec from Slovenia was second.

Weidle, who is still waiting for her first World Cup victory, achieved the fifth podium finish of her career in Switzerland.

Around two months before the World Cup in France, the form of the native of Stuttgart is pointing upwards.

Emma Aicher also collected World Cup points and finished 23rd. Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger finished 31st empty-handed.

On Sunday (11.30 a.m.) there is still a Super-G for the women in Switzerland.
