Algeria is bidding to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

An official in the Algerian Football Federation announced, on Friday, that Algeria is an official candidate to organize the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after it was withdrawn from Guinea.

"I am currently in Cairo, and I have just officially submitted Algeria's candidacy file for the 2025 African Cup," federation spokesman Saleh Bey Abboud told public radio.

The headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is located in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

"Our file is strong and stable. Unlike other files, Algeria already has operating facilities," the official APS news agency quoted Minister of Youth and Sports Abdel Razzak Sabbagh as saying on Tuesday.

Algeria had announced in early October that it would submit its candidacy file to organize the 2025 African Cup of Nations instead of Guinea, from which the right to host was withdrawn due to the lack of infrastructure readiness.

The CAF will conduct, between 5 and 25 January 2023, inspection visits prior to the announcement scheduled for 10 February 2023 to the host country of the tournament.

In 2014, the Confederation granted the right to organize three editions: 2019 for Cameroon, 2021 for Ivory Coast, and 2023 for Guinea.

However, after Cameroon withdrew and Egypt organized the 2019 edition, the first was awarded the 2021 edition and Ivory Coast 2023 (it will be held in early 2024 due to the rainy season), while Guinea agreed to organize the 2025 finals.
