Former international football referee Abdullah Al-Ajeel confirmed that the refereeing team for the Morocco-Portugal match, led by Argentine international referee Facundo Tello, managed the match well without any influential arbitration errors during the confrontation that ended with Morocco’s victory with a clean goal and its qualification to the semi-finals in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Pointing out that the Argentine referee helped him with his long experience in leading the match to safety.

Al-Ajel told Emirates Today, "In my estimation, all the referee's decisions, including the match's only goal and the colored cards, were correct, with the exception of some simple cases that did not affect the outcome of the match in general."

Al-Ajli expressed his surprise at the appointment of the International Football Association (FIFA) as an Argentine referee for this match, despite Argentina's qualification for this role in the tournament, stressing the importance of providing the principle of equal opportunities by excluding any referee who qualifies his country for advanced stages in the tournament.
