The Moroccan national team achieved a historic miracle by qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, after defeating Portugal with a goal without a response in the quarter-finals at Al-Thumama Stadium, to write the “Atlas Lions” a new history of African and Arab football.

The first half witnessed a big clash between the two teams, and Joao Felix threatened Morocco's goal in the fifth minute with a ball he played with his head, but goalkeeper Yassine Bono shone and deflected the ball brilliantly into a corner kick.

On the other hand, Youssef Al-Nusairi caused a great disturbance to the Portuguese defense line and threatened goalkeeper Diogo Costa twice with his head, but both times the ball crossed the crossbar, and Salim Amlah missed a dangerous opportunity from inside the penalty area.

In the 42nd minute, Youssef Al-Nusairi scored the first goal in a wonderful way, after he received a cross and headed it into the goal.

The "Atlas Lions" continued threatening the "Sailors" goal, and Hakim Ziyech almost added the second goal with a powerful shot that was sent away by goalkeeper Costa (50).

Portugal dominated the course of the game, while Morocco relied on counter-attacks, and Bruno Fernandez hit a powerful ball from outside the penalty area, which passed near the post (65).

Portugal pressed in the last minute of the match, and Hassan Walid Chedira got the red card, but Morocco's defense and goalkeeper Yassine Bono shone in repelling the "Sailors" attacks, so that the "Atlas Lions" achieved a historic achievement by qualifying for the semi-finals as the first Arab and African team to achieve this achievement.
