Morocco continued its 'blast' against Portugal and settled in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar.

Morocco defeated Portugal 1-0 thanks to Ennesiri (Sevilla)'s winning goal in the quarterfinals of the tournament held at Altumama Stadium in Doha, Qatar today (11th).

This is the first time Morocco has reached the semifinals in their 6th World Cup, starting with the 1970 tournament in Mexico.

It is also the first time ever that an African team has advanced to the semifinals.

Prior to this tournament, the only African countries that had reached the quarterfinal stage were Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002, and Ghana in 2010.

Morocco beat Belgium in the group stage, defeated Spain in the round of 16 in a penalty shootout, and then overcame European powers one after another, including Portugal, and wrote a new history.

Portugal, who finished fourth at the 2006 German tournament, finished the tournament without advancing to the semifinals for the first time in 16 years.

Morocco's shield, which conceded only one goal, clashed with Portugal's spear, which exploded 12 goals.

The opening goal came from the head of 188cm tall striker Ennesiri.

In the 42nd minute of the first half, he scored the 2nd goal of the tournament and the 3rd goal of his career by finishing the ball high from his left flank with a high RBI.

Portuguese captain Ronaldo, who watched this from the bench, was substituted in the 6th minute of the second half, but could not save the team.

In the 38th minute of the second half, he gave up his greed and gave Joao Felix a chance, but Felix's well-hit left-footed strong shot was blocked by Morocco goalkeeper Yasin Bunu's super save and hit the ground.

In the second half of extra time, he fired a decisive right-footed shot, but again he could not cross the 'Yasin Wall'.

Morocco kept their 1-0 victory despite the bad news of striker Shedira being sent off, achieving their 4th clean sheet in the tournament.

Ronaldo headed to the locker room in tears, finishing the fifth World Cup of his career in the quarterfinals.
