Jan Sandström came to Luleå before the 2001/2002 season and then played 1047 games over 17 seasons on the blue line for the Norrbotten team.

Backen retired after the playoff exit in 2018 and still holds the record for most regular season games in SHL history with 952 games.

The vast majority in Luleå, but also just over 100 in AIK.

During the time in Luleå, he got to play in several SM finals and win a CHL title.

Sandström also participated in the WC 2007 for Sweden.

Sandström is now joined on the roof by Stefan Nilsson (number 4), Johan Strömwall (12), Roger Åkerström and Jarmo Myllys (28).

Before the match, all Luleå players warmed up in shirts with the number 7 on the back.

Luleå then won the match 4–0 and thereby broke their six-game losing streak.

Malmö's losing streak is still alive and is now up to six games.
