Soccer goalkeeper Manuel Neuer from FC Bayern Munich broke his lower leg on a ski tour.
As Neuer himself explained on Instagram, he was already operated on Friday.
The 36-year-old posted a photo showing him in bed with his right leg in plaster.
"What can I say," writes Neuer: "The end of the year could definitely have gone better." And further: "While I wanted to clear my head while ski touring, I broke my lower leg." Neuer explained that it hurt him know "that the current season is over for me".
Neuer had already failed in the preliminary round with the DFB selection at the World Cup in Qatar.
Before the tournament, he was out for a few weeks due to a shoulder injury.
At Bayern he will now be replaced by Sven Ulreich (34).
Bayern star Neuer is therefore also not available in the Champions League hit games against Paris St. Germain.
