Brazil coach Chi Chi resigned voluntarily after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the second consecutive time.

After losing to Croatia on penalties in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar, Chichi announced at a press conference that he would step down as head coach of the Brazilian national team.

Brazil lost 2-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time against Croatia at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayjan, Qatar.

Brazil, which easily advanced to the quarterfinals by beating the Korean national team 4-1 in the previous round of 16, ended its sixth championship challenge in 220 years and a total of 2002 World Cups since the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup.

In addition, following the 2018 Russian tournament, I packed my bags in the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the second time in a row.

According to AFP, Chichi calmly accepted the shocking situation, saying, "It's a painful defeat, but I'm calm," and "a cycle is over."

Former manager of Brazil's most popular club, Corinthians, Chichi took charge of Brazil's national team after they were eliminated in the group stage of the 2016 Copa America.

At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Brazil failed to cross the threshold of the quarterfinals, but the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) guaranteed Chichi's tenure until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Chichi coached the 2019 Copa America title and looked to win the tournament for the first time in 20 years, but packed up in the quarterfinals.
