The prerequisite for Axel Hellmann's new role as interim managing director of the German Football League (DFL) until mid-2023 was the approval of the supervisory board of the soccer AG on the part of Eintracht.

The 51-year-old lawyer, who remains spokesman for the Bundesliga club, received this unanimously.

In addition, Hellmann enjoys the full backing of his three Frankfurt board colleagues Oliver Frankenbach (finance), Philipp Reschke (among other things legal and human resources as well as security) and Markus Krösche (sport).

Because the club's press release said that structurally everything would remain the same, Frankenbach or Reschke will not take on any tasks from Hellmann.

Multiple burdens at Hellmann

At Eintracht, he will continue to be responsible for the strategic direction of the club, the departments of media and communication, sales and marketing as well as internationalization.

It is clear, however, that the Frankfurters have to make their work even more efficient in order to absorb the increased strain on Hellmann at the DFL – he was elected to the presidency in August.

At Hellmanns Resorts, the second management level will be even more in demand and involved in the next six months.

Despite the multiple burdens at Hellmann, the Frankfurters are convinced that they will survive the next six months at the club without any loss of substance or quality.

They consider their structures to be extremely stable and the processes to be well-established.

And everyone firmly assumes that Hellmann will give up his temporary job at the DFL as managing director on July 1 – because he is “a Eintracht player at heart and through and through”.
