The Spanish Football Federation sacked its first-team coach, Luis Enrique, after “La Roja” was eliminated from the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar against Morocco on penalties.

"The president, Luis Rubiales, and the sporting director, Jose Francisco Molina, informed the coach of the decision," the Spanish Federation said in a statement today, Thursday.

Enrique, 52, took charge of the Spain national team in 2018 and led it to the European Nations Cup semi-finals last summer.

And after the start of the World Cup with a crushing victory over Costa Rica 7-0, which is the largest in the history of its participation in the World Cup, the 2010 champion tied with Germany 1-1 before losing to Japan 1-2.

In the final price, Spain took possession of the ball against Morocco, but lost to it on penalties 0-3 after the end of the original and extra time of the match with a goalless draw.
