The International Football Federation (FIFA) has initiated disciplinary procedures against four Uruguayan players, including Edinson Cavani.

In addition to Cavani, FIFA has investigated four other people: Jose Jimenez, Fernando Muslera and Diego Godin.

After winning 2-0 against Ghana in the third round of the 2022 Qatar World Cup group stage on the 3rd, they protested harshly to officials such as referees.

After the game, Uruguay players protested wildly around the referee, and Cavani entered the locker room and hit the video review (VAR) machine several times.

Uruguay beat Ghana that day, but Korea beat Portugal 2-1 at the same time and was eliminated from the group stage.

Uruguay has expressed dissatisfaction by strongly protesting to the referee after the elimination was confirmed, saying that the penalty decision was unfavorable in the second match against Portugal and the third match against Ghana.
