Boxing is still not included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic program. According to the current status, the IOC Executive cannot recommend that the International Olympic Committee allow boxing competitions under the direction of the World Association IBA at the Summer Games after next, said IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell on Tuesday in Lausanne.

The cultural change demanded by the IOC at the IBA has still not been implemented, it was said to justify it.

The umbrella organization of the IBA therefore sent another reminder letter.

Depends on Gazprom

The IOC remains concerned about the leadership and lack of financial transparency and sustainability of the association.

In addition, fight verdicts are said to have been manipulated in the past.

The IBA, led by the Russian Umar Kremlev, is dependent on money from the Russian energy giant Gazprom.

The governing body had already suspended the IBA in 2019 and recently again withdrawn responsibility for qualification and the Olympic competitions at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris from the boxing association.

In Lausanne, an IBA delegation led by former superstar Roy Jones jr.

protested in front of the meeting building.

"No boxing without IBA" and "No Olympics without boxing" read placards showing the demonstrators.

Boxing will still be on the program at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and a continuation under the leadership of the IBA is unlikely.
