FIFA regulations decide the position of Cameroonian Abu Bakr on the suspension with the Saudi victory

Cameroonian Vincent Abu Bakr, the Saudi Al-Nasr striker, is preparing to return to training for his Saudi Al-Nasr team, after his participation with his country in the Qatar 2022 World Cup ended.

The Cameroonian national team bid farewell to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar from the group stage, occupying third place in Group G with four points, behind Brazil and Switzerland (6 points each).

The last match for Vincent's comrades witnessed a historic victory against the Brazilian national team 1-0, scored by Abu Bakr, but he was expelled immediately after, as he celebrated by taking off his shirt, so that the second yellow card was shown in his face, and then the red one.

This expulsion sparked controversy among the group that is not sufficiently familiar with the laws of the International Federation, about the possibility of punishing him in the Saudi League by not playing, given Cameroon’s farewell to the World Cup, and the inability to apply the penalty in the global event.

However, Al-Eqtisadiah sports newspaper explained to this group that FIFA's laws indicate that in such cases, the penalty is applied in the first official international match for a player from his country's national team, and not with his team in a local competition.

Thus, Abu Bakr will not miss the next victory match in the Saudi Roshen League against Al-Raed, which is scheduled to be held on December 15, in the ninth round.
