The Senegal national team aspires to rehabilitate African football in front of the England national team, when it meets with it today at Al-Bayt Stadium in the round of 16 of the World Cup currently being held in Qatar.

And the fans of the brown continent still remember England's 2-3 victory over Cameroon - after resorting to extra time - in the quarter-finals of the 1990 World Cup in Italy, to prevent the "Untamed Lions" from becoming the first African team to advance to the semi-finals of the World Cup through Date.

The Senegalese team hopes that its English counterpart will taste the same cup that Cameroon drank from, and that it will knock him out of the tournament, despite topping the list of nominations for the title in that version.

It will not be easy for the local coach, Aliou Cisse, of course, in light of the impressive performance of the England national team during its campaign in the group stage in the World Cup in Qatar.

The England national team has the strongest offensive line in the tournament currently, in partnership with Spain, as they were the two teams that scored the most in the first round with nine goals.

The England national team has previously met with African teams in seven World Cup confrontations, during which it achieved four victories, and tied negatively in three matches.

It is noteworthy that the winner of that match will meet next Saturday in the quarter-finals with the winner of the meeting between France and Poland.
