Due to the Olympic Games which will take place that summer, the arrival of the 2024 edition of the Tour de France will take place in Nice and not in Paris, on the Champs-Élysées as usual.

This is the first time in history that the Grande Boucle will not end its journey in the capital.

Nice rather than Paris.

The Tour de France 2024 will bend the rule and will not end its course on the Champs-Élysées as it has been used to since 1975. Information that Europe 1 is able to confirm.

A decision motivated by security reasons, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games starting only a few days after the last stage of the Grande Boucle.

The famous avenue will then be in full preparation for the event.

A departure to Florence

It is therefore on the Promenade des Anglais, on July 21, 2024 that the winner of this unique edition of the Tour de France will be crowned.

According to

Le Parisien

, the choice of the city of Nice would correspond to a form of moral debt of Christian Prud'homme, the boss of the Tour de France, towards Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice.

In 2020, the Grande Boucle had already started from the Côte d'Azur city but the start had been postponed to August 29 due to the Covid-19.

At that date, the city had already been emptied of its tourists and had suffered a significant shortfall.
