The Saudi national team bid farewell to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the State of Qatar, after losing to Mexico 2-1, at Lusail Stadium, in the third and final round of the first round of Group C, from which Argentina and Poland advanced.

The Saudi “Al-Akhdar” balance stopped at 3 points, with which it ranked last in the group, compared to 6 points for the Argentine national team, which beat its Polish counterpart 2-0 and went up together, and the latter has 4 points, which is the same as Mexico’s balance, but the goal difference decided the second card.

Saudi Arabia and Mexico match

The Saudi national team almost scored an early goal, but goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais prevented Alexis Vega from scoring 3 minutes after the start, outright alone.

The first real threat came from the Saudi "Al-Akhdar", after Muhammad Kano ensured the execution of a direct free kick from the borders of the penalty area, the crossbar was slightly overhead.

Defender Abd al-Ilah al-Omari intervened at the right time and blocked Lozano's header, while Ali al-Hassan's header missed Mexico's goal in stoppage time in the first half.

The start of the second half came as a shock to the Saudis, after Al Owais scored for the first time in the 47th minute, after a corner reached Henry Martin, who deposited the net.

Argentina vs Poland match

In the second match, which took place at the same time at Stade 974, Argentina suffered against Poland before snatching a deserved 2-0 victory.

Wojciech Chesney, the Poland goalkeeper, imposed himself as a star for the first half, after he alone guaranteed to prevent Argentina from scoring, in the absence of the offensive effectiveness of his colleagues.

Chesney blocked a shot from Lionel Messi, who penetrated the penalty area from the left side, then aimed, but the goalkeeper was on the lookout for him.

Dutch referee Danny McKelle awarded a penalty kick to the "Tango" team, after returning to the video assistant referee (VAR) technique, after an intervention from Chesney on Messi's face.

The Paris Saint-Germain star rushed to take the penalty kick, and sent it strong on the left side, but Chesney was alert and succeeded in blocking it, so that this was the second strike that the Polish goalkeeper returned, after he prevented Salem Al-Dosari, the Saudi star, from scoring in the last match.

Chesney used his hands to block a shot from Julian Alvarez, before it collided with Rodrigo de Paul, and returned easily to the Polish goalkeeper, so that the first half ended with a goalless draw.

Chesney's steadfastness was broken one minute after the start of the second half, after a cross from Nahuel Molina on the right side, Alexis McAlister sent it directly to the far right corner of the Polish goalkeeper in the net.

The continuous Argentine pressure resulted in a second goal, after McAllister gave a pass deep into Poland's defense to Alvarez, who received it, then turned around and shot hard into the top left corner of Chesney into the net, at the sixty-eighth minute.
