A ranking organization meeting was held for the Grand Sumo Tournament to be held in January next year, and it was decided that Shonan Noumi, who had achieved good results in the makushita of the Kyushu Tournament, would be newly promoted to Juryo.

In addition, Ozeki experience, Asanoyama's return to Juryo has been decided.

The Japan Sumo Association held a ranking meeting for the first place and decided to promote Takadagawa stable Shonan Noumi to the new juryo.

Shonan Noumi is a 24-year-old girl from Oiso Town, Kanagawa Prefecture.

After graduating from junior high school, she entered the Takadagawa stable and stepped on her first ring in the 2014 Spring Tournament Mae Sumo.

She honed her yotsu-sumo wrestling, and she went on to record 5 wins and 2 losses at the Kyushu tournament, where she was the top makushita in the west.

She also confirmed the return of her Ozeki veteran, Asanoyama, to Juryo.

Asanoyama was banned from participating in six places from Nagoya last year for violating the guidelines of the Japan Sumo Association, and was ranked down from Ozeki to the third stage. In the 4th Makushita, he had a good result of 6 wins and 1 loss.

He is the second experienced ozeki to return to sekitori after being ranked lower than makushita, following Terunofuji in the first year of the year.

In addition, Shiratakayama, who is from Yamagata Prefecture and is a member of the Takadagawa stable, has also decided to return to Juryo.

The Grand Sumo Tournament will be held on January 8th next year at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo.

Asanoyama "Don't forget to be grateful and devote yourself every day"

Asanoyama, a former Ozeki who has decided to return to Juryo, said through the Japan Sumo Association, “I am honestly happy to be promoted to Juryo again. I will do it, ”he commented.
