The Moroccan national football team will play a decisive confrontation - tomorrow, Thursday - against Canada, in the third round of Group F competitions for the "Qatar 2022" World Cup finals, amid questions about the participation of goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

The Spanish goalkeeper, Seville, withdrew at the last moment before the start of the confrontation against Belgium (2-0) last Sunday in the second round;

Because he felt dizzy.

Bono was in the starting line-up for the match, and he went through the warm-up period and stood with his colleagues during the playing of the national anthem, but he felt dizzy after that, so his coach Walid Rekragui decided not to risk his participation, and pushed the Saudi goalkeeper Mounir Mohammadi in his place.

Morocco's goalkeepers are ready for the challenge

Bono, 31, told Agence France-Presse, "I'm in good shape. I had an injury from the Croatia match. I didn't want to determine its type and it renewed. I hope to be ready for the Canada match."

Bono trained normally - last Monday and Tuesday - but the nature of the injury he suffered - which he refused to disclose - raises more than one question mark about his readiness to compete in the Canada match, the gateway to qualifying for the final eight for the second time in its history after 1986.

Bono is considered a mainstay in the Moroccan national team, and one of the contributors to its reaching the finals for the sixth time in its history, as his brilliance with the Andalusian team represented its gateway to the lions' den, after he was a reserve for Mohamedi in the World Cup "Russia 2018".

Mohammadi was as expected against Belgium, and managed to keep a clean sheet.

He told AFP after the match, "We are soldiers on standby. I did not expect to play in the main, and I did not have enough time to get into the atmosphere of the match, but I am a professional and I have great experience and knowledge of the lions' den."

This was the language of the third goalkeeper, Ahmed Reda Al-Teknaouti, when asked about his readiness to play in the event of Mohamedi’s injury, “Yes, we are here to defend the colors of the national team, and you must be ready at any moment. I have experience in big dates in the brown continent, where I won the Champions League twice, in front of many fans.”

He added, "There is no fear for the lions' den. We have three goalkeepers at the high level, and Bono preferred us with his continental experience and his play in the La Liga."
