In the first round of the soccer World Cup Qatar tournament, the Netherlands vs. Qatar in Group A, the Netherlands won 2-0 and advanced to the final tournament as the 1st place in the group.

The match was held at Arbeit Stadium in northern Qatar from midnight on the 30th Japan time.



The Dutch took the initiative from the beginning and took the lead in the 26th minute of the first half when Cody Gakpo received the ball near the penalty area.



Gakpo has scored in three consecutive games.



The Netherlands led 1-0 in the first half, but in the 4th minute of the second half, midfielder Frenkie de Jong pushed in a loose ball from a shot with his right foot to take the lead 2-0.



On the other hand, Qatar were unable to create any decisive chances until the very end without breaking the Dutch defense.



The Netherlands won 2-0 and advanced to the knockout rounds as 1st place in Group A with 2 wins and 1 draw.



The Netherlands will face the 2nd place of Group B in the first round of the final tournament.



Qatar ended up with three straight losses, making it the first time in World Cup history that the host country was eliminated in the first round without winning a single match.
