The World Cup for men started on Tuesday with a distance of 20 kilometers.

Martin Ponsiluoma then gave himself a dream start to the season when he clinched the victory, after firing a barrage on four shots.

After the competition, the national team's coach Johannes Lukas is happy about a premiership victory.

- What a start for us.

It's really fun for Martin that he strikes here in a distance and I think he does well all the way.

Has a good focus and really knows what matters today and then that's enough for victory.

It is fantastic, he says in SVT.

Generally speaking, across the entire national team, it was a good debut on the mound.

Sebastian Samuelsson shot identically to the winner, while Jesper Nelin, Peppe Femling and Emil Nykvist scored 18 out of 20 shots.

However, it was more difficult for Oskar Brandt, who missed six shots.

Revealing the plan

Lukas can tell you that it was a plan from the national team to focus on shooting.

- We talked a lot before the race about not wanting to be too busy.

Everyone is really ready to race, everyone wants to race, everyone really just wants to go fast.

But we didn't want that today, we wanted good focus, a steady pace out there.

Maybe drop a second into the embankment, but to really focus in there and you can see that it works very well today.

I am very happy with the whole team, he says.

Samuelsson himself was a little doubtful after the finish just about his ride, when he was 44 seconds slower than Ponsliuoma, which took him to fifth place.

But that's nothing that worries Lukas for the rest of the season.

- Absolutely not.

I have seen so many training starts from him and Martin.

They are riding very well and very similar really so far this year.

The plan today was not to have peak ride times.

We have to meet and then there will be top results.

We have done that and we have three top 15s and a World Cup victory, concludes Lukas.
