Cameroon's first goalkeeper André Onana has left the World Cup squad after one game played.

Ahead of the match against Serbia, the federation announced that he has been temporarily suspended for disciplinary reasons.

Now he speaks out for the first time about the situation, in a statement on his Instagram.

“Yesterday I was not allowed to be on the pitch to help Cameroon, as I always want to do, to reach the team's goal.

I have always behaved in a way that should lead the team to success in a good way.

I have really tried and put my energy into trying to find solutions to a situation that often arises for footballers but there has been no will from the other side," Onana writes.

Onana further writes that he has respect for those responsible for the continued success of the Cameroonian national team.

"I send all my strength to my teammates because we have shown that we have the capacity to go very far in this competition".

and continues:

"The values ​​that I emphasize as a person and as a player are those that identify me and that my family has given me since childhood.

Representing Cameroon has always been a privilege”.

Cameroon lost their opening match against Switzerland 1-0 and followed it up with a 3-3 draw against Serbia.

On Friday, the team faces Brazil in the final group stage match.
