Emil Iversen, 31, had the 39th best time in this weekend's pursuit start in freestyle in Ruka.

Despite that, he continues to gain trust.

Jan Thomas Jenssen, 26, had instead expected that he would be selected.

That after he was the third best Norwegian in the national premiere in Beitostölen.

- This is exactly what I don't understand very much.

It's too stupid to just say that Iversen is a national team skater, so he goes ahead of you regardless, Jenssen said.

What Jenssen, who last went to the World Cup in 2020, is referring to is that the Norwegian federation has said that regular national team riders should be prioritized before Christmas.

- I have no problem understanding that, but there has to be a line somewhere, he says.

The length manager Espen Bjervig defends the selection:

"There is always a lot of emotion in connection with selections and I respect that skaters are disappointed.

But we believe that we have followed the selection criteria which are clearly described", he writes in a text message to NRK.
