The International Biathlon Union, IBU, has introduced new rules for this season.

Among other things, the riders are no longer allowed to cross out their two worst results.

This is a change that the majority of the active did not want.

Last winter, a survey was carried out among the active.

The survey showed that 65 percent of the riders wanted to keep the old system.

- What I turn a little against is the process itself.

Aktiva's committee has done surveys on this, and it is clear that a majority is against it.

And yet the change continues.

So it's a bit of a shame, says Sebastian Samuelsson at a press conference before the premiere.

- We made it very clear what we wanted.

Sees health risks

His colleague Martin Ponsiluoma is another who is clear in his criticism.

Something that several skiers are critical of is that they now see a risk that skiers feel forced to ride even though they are not completely healthy.

- It is a risk.

Then I also see a risk that, perhaps later in the season, the best skaters might choose to skip a relay because you can't afford to skip a competition, says Sebastian Samuelsson.

"It's bad"

Martin Ponsiluoma is on the same track.

- I think it is bad.

I don't think it's good.

If you miss a weekend, a good placement in the overall World Cup can be lost, so people may compete even though you are sick and take more risks, so I don't think that is positive, he says.

The Swedish top skaters often stay over a weekend just before the WC to get in shape.

That will not be the case for Ponsiluoma this year.

- I will not do that, he asserts.
