Senegal and Ecuador are engaged in a heated confrontation today, in order to advance to the round of 16 in the World Cup finals, which are currently being held in Qatar.

The two teams meet at the end of the first group competition.

The struggle seems to be intensified between the teams of the Netherlands, Ecuador and Senegal, to seize the two tickets from that group to the knockout stages.

The Netherlands and Ecuador teams share the lead with 4 points each, as they have the same goal difference, and both scored 3 goals, conceded one goal, and are ahead of Senegal, which ranks third, by a point.

The equalizer point will be sufficient for the Ecuador national team, which is participating in the World Cup for the fourth time in its history, in order to pass the group stage for the second time in its history, after achieving the same achievement in Germany 2006.

The Ecuadorian national team grabbed the spotlight in the World Cup, after the remarkable level with which it appeared in the group, as it achieved a deserved 2-0 victory over Qatar in the opening match, and appeared wonderfully against the Dutch national team in their match in the second round, with a 1-1 draw.

The Ecuador national team owes a great deal of thanks to its distinguished appearance in the tournament to its veteran star, Ener Valencia, who scored all three of the team's goals in the current edition so far.

On the other hand, the Senegalese national team, which is playing in the World Cup for the third time in its history, is entering the match and has no alternative but to win, to advance to the knockout stages for the second time in its history, after the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, which saw it reach the quarter-finals.

Senegal is looking for its first victory over a South American team in the World Cup, after it drew 3-3 with Uruguay in the 2002 edition, and lost 0-1 against Colombia in Russia 2018.
