The end of Salman Al-Faraj's career with Saudi Arabia in the World Cup

The Saudi Football Association announced the end of captain Salman Al-Faraj’s career with the national team in the FIFA World Cup, after coach Herve Renard agreed to leave the camp today, Sunday.

Al-Faraj was injured at the end of the first half of the historic 2-1 victory over Argentina in Saudi Arabia's first match in the tournament last Tuesday.

Renard said after that match that he did not expect Al-Faraj to participate in another match in the finals in Qatar.

"The coach of the national team allowed the player, Salman Al-Faraj, to leave the camp, based on the medical report, which confirmed his inability to play for the remainder of the tournament," the Saudi Federation said in a statement today, Sunday.

And Saudi Arabia, who lost 2-0 to Poland on Saturday, has three points equal with Argentina, while Poland leads the group with four points.

And Saudi Arabia needs to beat Mexico in the last match in the group next Wednesday to guarantee qualification to the round of sixteen, regardless of the outcome of the match between Poland and Argentina.
