The England national team went on a preparatory tour to Colombia, before the start of the 1970 World Cup, which Mexico hosted, to adapt to the weather and atmosphere in South America, and played a friendly match with Colombia, but what captain Bobby Moore did caused a sensation.

And the Colombian police stopped Bobby Moore at the airport before the English mission left the Colombian capital, Bogotá, and arrested him on charges of stealing a piece of jewelry containing a rare gem valued at about $ 1,500, from a store called “Green Fire”, the store he had gone to to buy gifts with Bobby Charlton. .

And the British newspaper “The Guardian” stated - in a previous report - that the England captain was transferred to court immediately after the investigations, and was accompanied at that time by the British ambassador to Colombia and one of the embassy’s lawyers, while the England team mission naturally completed its trip to Mexico without their captain Bobby Moore. .

Bobby Moore was detained for three days already on the background of the investigations, but he did not remain imprisoned in prison, but remained in the house of an official in the Colombian Football Federation, and the England captain maintained his fitness by training in the facilities of the Millonarios club, with the help of young players in the club.

Throughout that period, Moore was practicing exercises to maintain his fitness, in order to be able to participate with him in the 1970 World Cup.
