Exhausted Tunisia loses to Australia and complicates its position on qualifying

Tunisia lost 1-0 to Australia in a match with few chances at Al Janoub Stadium, to complicate the task of qualifying for the round of 16 for the first time in its history in the FIFA World Cup today, Saturday.

Striker Mitchell Duke scored the only goal of the match with a header in the 23rd minute, after a cross pass from Craig Goodwin, taking advantage of a rare opportunity over goalkeeper Ayman Dahman, to give Australia its first victory in the tournament since 2010.

Tunisia collected one point from two matches after an epic draw with Denmark in the opening round of Group D, but today it seemed that it was suffering from fatigue against physically strong Australia, and the offensive solutions of coach Jalal Al-Qadri were absent.

Australia now has three points, like France, which beat them 4-1 in the first round, and the defending champions meet Denmark later today.

Tunisia will play France in the final decisive round.
