The heavy semifinal loss earlier today looked to be in Team Eriksson's hands when the bronze medal match started.

The Swedish team had a nightmare start with 0-3 at the back in the first round after serious mistakes from Rasmus Wranå and Oskar Eriksson.

- Cold shower like no other, disaster is another word, says SVT's expert Eva Lund.

- It was not an optimal start to give them a three-pointer, not really according to the game plan, says Oskar Eriksson.

Oskar, Rasmus and the whole team played themselves up after the tough start, but the distance to Italy half way into the bronze match was still three points, 3-6.

Slowly but surely Lag Eriksson crept closer and closer and in the eighth round Oskar Eriksson succeeded with a perfect finishing stone and two points salvaged and 7-7 before the last two rounds.

Before the last round, Sweden was down 7-9 but had the last stone and it was going to be gas-hugging.

Oskar Eriksson had the chance to pick up several points with a difficult last shot, but it didn't go his way.

Italy won 10-7.

Sweden has never missed a medal in a European Championship ever.

The EC began to be played in 1975 and is normally played every year.

The 47-year-long streak is thus broken.
