Asashio is 28 years old from Shima City, Mie Prefecture.

A graduate of Toyo University, he was in the top 4 of the National Student Sumo Championship, and stepped on the first ring with the 100th ranking in the third stage in the spring tournament of 2017. However, he returned after surgery and was promoted to juryo in last fall.



However, he fell to the makushita in one place, and after having knee surgery again in February this year, he continued to be absent, and he participated in the first two places in the present place, which fell to the 60th position in the first two stages of the west.

Asashio, who won many victories with his signature thrusting sumo wrestling, said, "I was most relieved to be able to take the 7th place after a long time. I'm happy that he accumulated wins and won the championship."



Regarding his victory at the place after the break, he said, "I felt frustrated during the break, but his teacher told me, 'Don't rush,' so I was able to practice at my own pace without being too impatient." I looked back.



Regarding the future, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I want to return to sekitori, and there are still more rankings to be made. It's not good to look too far ahead, but I think good sumo wrestling will bring results."
