It was at the beginning of October that the police received information that a woman in her 20s had been raped in an apartment in central Stockholm.

A player in Djurgården's men's soccer team was arrested in his absence a little more than a day later, arrested shortly thereafter and requested to be detained a few days after that.

Two weeks ago, the trial was held where the football player was accused of rape, offensive photography and minor drug offences.

The Djurgårds player himself denied the two first-mentioned crimes and as for the drugs, he claimed that he got them from a friend to counteract sleep problems.

Prosecutor Frida Vedin demanded three years in prison and deportation.

Now the verdict has arrived and in it it can be read that the player is acquitted on two out of three charges.

"However, with regard to the defendant's information and the evidence that is available to support it, the district court does not consider it beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant raped the plaintiff.

The charge of rape is therefore dismissed," the Stockholm District Court writes in a press release.

"Neither does the district court consider that it is proven that the defendant filmed the plaintiff illegally and secretly.

The prosecution for offensive photography is also therefore dismissed".

The only thing he is convicted of is the drug offence.

"On the other hand, the district court considers that it has been shown that the defendant has intentionally used narcotics, and he is therefore sentenced for minor drug offences".
