Al-Serkal told Emirates Al-Youm: “I am not trying to evaluate a federation, but rather the football situation in the Emirates, as I am not satisfied with the football situation at the level of all clubs, nor am I satisfied with the level of the local league, and I am against the presence of more than two foreign players in the club.” The team is in the UAE league, ”noting that when he was previously president of the Football Association, there were three foreign players when he returned to the presidency of the federation for the second time, given that this number was present by a previous decision of the federation that preceded him.

Al-Serkal considered that "the number of foreign players present in the league did not enrich the league because their levels are not high," noting that "the presence of foreign players did not produce an excellent league at the level of the Middle East or at the level of Asia, and the level of the league is lower than when there were two or three foreign players." He considered that “the increase in the number of foreign players blocked the opportunity for good materials that impose themselves and represent the country at the level of the national team.”

Al-Serkal explained, “When I was president of the Football Association, we had our future vision, by working on transitional stages in order for the team to reach the World Cup, so that the first stage would be winning the 2019 Asian Cup that was held in the UAE, because winning the championship would have given them an indication that the team is on the right path. The national team did not win the championship, but it reached the final match, and this is an indication that the national team is on the right path, and the ultimate goal was to be in the World Cup in Qatar.

And about the best period when he was president of the Football Association, in which the national team could attend the World Cup for the second time, Al-Serkal said: “The last time I was in the federation when the national team could compete to reach the World Cup for the second time was when I held the position of vice president of the federation. As for when I was president of the federation, the team exceeded the preliminary round in the qualifying rounds for the World Cup. Elections took place in the Football Association, and I was removed from the presidency of the federation, and another federation came.
