Färjestad won the first meeting against Mountfield 4–3 and went to the Czech Republic with good hope of further advancement.
But in an already injured squad, without big star Theodor Lennström, both Victor Ejdsell and Marcus Westfält were also missing and it was noticeable.
The Czechs took command straight away and grabbed a 2-0 lead after just 8 minutes of play.
Another goal also came and then Färjestad suddenly needed two to take the match to extra time.
Two goals had to be solved.
The first was scored by Oscar Lawner to make it 1-3, the second by Michael Lindqvist on the power play to make it 2-3 - and it was therefore extra time.
There, Mountfield was clearly the better team and was able to decide 4–2, and 7–6 in total.
Färjestad is thus eliminated from the CHL.
