Argentinian striker Lionel Messi reaffirmed Monday at a press conference that the World Cup in Qatar will "surely" be his last World Cup, after the four editions he has already played with Argentina in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018, without ever winning any.

A few hours before Argentina and therefore Lionel Messi entered the 2022 World Cup, the Argentine star reaffirmed that this World Cup would most likely be the last of his career.

At 35, the Paris Saint-Germain striker intends to go far in the competition with his country.

"It will surely be my last World Cup, my last opportunity to achieve this great dream that we all have," Messi said at a press conference.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker had already confided in an interview with ESPN on October 6 that the World Cup in Qatar would "surely" be his last.

"It will be my last World Cup. Surely, yes," he had already said.

"I don't know if it's the part where I'm happiest in my career... But I feel very good, yes. This World Cup, I'm approaching it with another age, being more mature. J 'try to enjoy everything to the fullest, to live it with all the intensity and to enjoy every moment of it,' he explained.
