One million dirhams cash prizes for the first places in all categories

Zayed Charity Marathon "We Run for Help" witnesses the participation of 5,000 contestants

The Zayed Humanitarian Charity Marathon and the accompanying events that were held on its sidelines, yesterday, in Abu Dhabi, witnessed the participation of more than 5,000 contestants of all ages and groups, to compete for charitable work, and to celebrate the exploits of the founding leader, the late, God willing, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, good. God bless him.

The starting badge was launched by Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the marathon activities were held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the Higher Organizing Committee for the Marathon, and the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. Proceeds from the current edition of the marathon will be allocated to the Organ Donation and Transplantation Program.

The marathon witnessed three races, which started in front of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Hotel and ended there as well.

The award winners were crowned by Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al Kaabi, Deputy Secretary General of the Local Affairs Sector of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Rashid Al Mansoori, Chairman of the National Organ Donation Committee, Dr. Ali Al Obaidli, and General Manager of the Company. Abu Dhabi Media Abdul Rahim Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Suhail Al Arifi, Secretary General of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination Abdullah Al Humaidan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Athletics Club Colonel Khaled Al Zaabi, and Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Community Support Qasim Al Hashemi.

And a press release stated: “The marathon included a three-kilometer fun race with the family, a five-kilometer intermediate race, and a 10-kilometer advanced race, with large financial prizes, amounting to a total value of one million dirhams, which were distributed to the top runners from each category, including people of determination, and a special award has been created for the autism category.

The list of winners in the three-kilometer race for the men’s category included: Nader Ismail, Hamad Al-Yahya’i, and Samir Boumselt, and for the female category, Imabit Shibero Garba, Shamma Al-Abri, and Diana Zakharchenko.

It also included in the five-kilometer race for the men’s category: Noman Al-Assawi, Abraha Hans Marsha, and Ismail Al-Kharshi, and for the female category, Zinashawerk Yanyu Ambe, Abrash Chilima Kebede, and Gerda Stein.

In the category of people of determination on wheelchairs, the list for the five-kilometer race included Aousha Al-Mansoori, and for the men’s category: Badr Al-Hosani, Muhammad Al-Shehhi, and Muhammad Othman.

In the 10-kilometer distance, the list included for the men's category: Varander Kumar, Adel Kasboub, and Benjamin Karim, and for the female category: Sana Shawabkeh, Meshaal Sharif, and Caro de Boer.

And for people of determination, the Special Olympics for a distance of three kilometers, the list included for the male category: Hamad Al-Suraidi, Hussein Al-Sherbiny, Muhammad Khamis Al-Ahbabi, and for the female category: Hamda Ali Al-Hosani, Aisha Al-Busaidi, and Iman Tabidi.

The list of winners for the 10 km race for people of determination with disabilities and paraplegia included the cycling category for men (C): Ahmed Al-Badwawi, Shadi Mazyad, and Ahmed Al-Kook, and for the female category (H): Asmaa Ali, Alia Al-Kaabi and Lynn Ashbeer, and for the men’s category: Abdullah Younis, Tariq Obaid, Sami Al-Sulaimi.

Lieutenant General (M) Mohammed Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for the Marathon, said: “I am overwhelmed with joy at the success of the Zayed Charity Marathon 2022 in Abu Dhabi.

Not only were we able to raise thousands of dirhams for the Emirates Red Crescent, but runners of all abilities were also able to come together and experience the joy of community participation.

A special award has been introduced for the autism category, starting from the next edition.

The next marathon version will be held in Alexandria, Egypt, on December 23, 2022, with two and 10 km races, and its proceeds will be donated to Ahl Masr Hospital for the treatment of accident and burn victims from the Ahl Masr Foundation.
