Mercedes will not favor Hamilton for records

Mercedes team manager Toto Wolf confirmed that the team does not plan to favor Lewis Hamilton in the Abu Dhabi final race in order to give him the opportunity to have the sole record in Formula 1 records, in terms of the most continuous drivers to win at least one race in successive seasons, which is tied Hamilton is currently with German legend Michael Schumacher, with (at least one victory in 15 consecutive seasons).

Wolff said in a press statement: "I think that Hamilton does not need any preference.

He added, "The issue revolves more around returning the car to what it was and competing for more victories next year. We also hope to compete for the championship, especially after George Russell's victory last Sunday in the Brazilian Grand Prix, and he gave the team the first victory of this season."

It is noteworthy that Schumacher failed in his first season in the world of “Formula 1” to achieve any victory before he succeeded over the course of 15 consecutive seasons between 1992 and 2006 in achieving at least one victory during those seasons, in a number that Hamilton succeeded in equalizing since his first season in 2007 until 2021, and he is looking forward from the gate of the Abu Dhabi race to break the unilateral record, which depends on his ability to win the Abu Dhabi race at the end of the 2022 season, after the British failed to achieve any victory in the current season.
