In the spring, it was announced that the breakaway trio Karlsson, Dahlqvist and Svahn would not train with the national team before or during the now-started season.
- I think it's unfortunate, it must feel like a failure (for the national team management ed. note) that they don't want to be involved, that they can't meet their demands.
Even though we don't know who they were, I think it should be possible to find a model and not be in such a hurry, but let it take some time to bring them along, says SVT's expert Mathias Fredriksson and continues:
- I believe in a model where the best spar and train as much as possible together, partly for themselves but also for those from below who get to be close to the stars and see what is required and see how to develop.
National team manager Anders Byström answers:
- I also believe in that model, so of course it feels sad that they are not included.
But we have had good dialogues and I hope everyone wants to join.
I really believe in the team we have had this summer, it is very strong.
If we can get all the best with us, it is of course even better.
Does it feel like a failure?
- Well, we'll see this winter, how it goes.
But I think it will go well.
