Two days before the start of the World Cup, Qatar and Fifa have announced that they will reconsider the decision to sell beer to supporters around the stadiums.

It was decided to "remove beer outlets from stadium perimeters" and "concentrate the sale of alcoholic beverages" in fan zones and authorized establishments

Qatar authorities and Fifa have reversed the decision to sell beer to supporters around the World Cup-2022 stadiums, the football governing body announced in a statement on Friday, two days before kick-off.

"Following discussions between the authorities of the host country and Fifa", it was decided to "remove the points of sale of beer from the perimeters of the stadiums" and to "concentrate the sale of alcoholic beverages" in the fan zones and authorized establishments, specifies this press release, without giving the reasons for such a decision.
