The director of Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Company for Event Management, a partner with Prisma Public Relations Management in organizing the 32nd edition of the Dubai International Basketball Championship, Naji Al-Jabri, revealed radical changes in the organizational aspects of the tournament that Dubai will host on January 27, most notably the increase in mass capacity. And a hall floor designed according to the standards of the famous American Professional League «NBA».

Al-Jabri told "Emirates Today" that "upgrading the organizational aspects in accordance with the highest international standards is a fundamental pillar of the organizing company's business strategy, in a way that serves the exit of the 32nd edition with a civilized appearance that befits the oldest and most continuous tournaments in Asia."

He explained: «Since the announcement at the beginning of this month of signing an agreement with the UAE Basketball Federation, through which Prisma, in cooperation with the New Generation Company, will organize the tournament in its 32nd edition;

The work mechanisms focused on how to improve the organizational aspect of the tournament, which always witnesses a heavy turnout and carnivals from the communities residing in the country, especially the Filipinos, Syrians, Lebanese and Jordanians. Increasing the capacity through temporary stands on the floor of the hall, and allocating them to the (VIB) category of basketball lovers.

He added, “The new amendments approved in accordance with international standards for basketball matches include placing large digital billboards in front of the benches of the two teams’ substitutes, ensuring greater protection for the players and keeping their movement in a closed area, and allowing freedom of movement only for the coach and making substitutions.”

Al-Jabri referred to the group of activities accompanying the matches, and said: “A schedule of activities has been approved during the two halves of the matches, inspired by major world championships, especially (NBA), including special competitions and raffles for the public, and others related to basketball, such as three-pointers and others, in addition to contracting with the best music distributor ( DJ) in the region to enrich the sense of enthusiasm, whether during matches or throughout the events ».

He continued, "New standards were adopted for the first time in the history of the tournament in terms of organization, by issuing tickets electronically, which provides greater speed and less effort for the public, instead of the old method used, which imposes waiting queues in front of the sales booths."

Regarding the identity and numbers of the competing teams in the 32nd edition, Al-Jabri concluded by saying: “The major basketball clubs in Asia and Africa are keen to register their permanent presence in the Dubai International Championship, but the prevailing trend lies in limiting participation to 8 to 10 clubs, in order to preserve the tournament system, and leave The elite have the opportunity to compete for the title, and we are currently studying the files submitted by the clubs before determining the final list of participating clubs at the end of this month.
