His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, witnessed the official opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will continue at Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City until the 19th of this month.

His Highness awarded the medals to the winners of the first places in the junior category of the championship, and praised the efforts made by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation to advance sports and enhance Abu Dhabi's position as the home of the game, and an essential station for hosting thousands of sports stars from all countries of the world to develop their careers and embrace championships and titles.

The 14th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, organized by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attracts more than 5,000 male and female players from around the world, to compete in the categories of juniors, youth, professors, professionals and people of determination.

This championship comes after the success of the 27th World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which was hosted in Abu Dhabi from October 29 to November 8, to enhance the emirate's position as a leading global destination in organizing jiu-jitsu events.

His Highness was accompanied by the President of the UAE and Asian Federations, First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi, Sheikh Zayed bin Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Minister of Justice Abdullah Al Nuaimi. The Chairman of the Office of the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Dr. Ahmed Al Mazrouei, the Chairman of the Department of Community Development, Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Younis Al Khouri, the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, Dr. Muhammad Al Hamli, and the Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council Aref Al Awani.

On this occasion, Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi said: "The patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is a badge of honor for the issuance of all athletes in the country, and all members of the jiu-jitsu sport in the world," noting that the achievements made by the sport of Jiu-Jitsu Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE is the fruit of His Highness' support, guidance and sponsorship of this sport since its inception in the country.
