Between 2000 and 2008, Umeå IK won the women's league seven times in nine years.

After that it got worse.

In 2016, the former giant, which also won the Uefa Women's Cup (now the Champions League) in 2003 and 2004, left the women's league for the first time since 1996.

One-year stay again

In 2019, they made it back to the fine room, but went straight out of the top league before they won the elite title again last year.

But also this year, the stay in the women's league was one year.

Harrysson equalized

Because today - despite a dream start via 1-0 by Vilma Koivisto already after half a minute - there was a 1-4 loss away to Kristianstad.

Umeå's dream start - nets after 32 seconds

Josefin Harrysson equalized after barely a quarter of an hour, and less than three minutes later Evelyne Viens made it 2–1 for the home team after Wilma Carlsson misjudged a high ball and gave Viens a chance from nowhere.

Demotion due to goal difference

When Tilda Persson gave Kristnastad the lead 3–1 22 minutes later, it was night black for Umeå.

Because in the second half, Umeå, who played a fairly okay first half, basically created nothing until the final stage of the match when there were a couple of half chances - which, however, did not result in goals.

Umeå lost 1–4 after a last goal on the last kick of the match, and thus leaves the series.

The team had a worse goal difference than Brommapojkarna, who lost 0–1 at home against already clear series winners Rosengård.
