Motohiro Shima, a catcher who retired from professional baseball Yakult at the end of this season, will serve as a battery coach for the first army.

Yakult won the league title this season, eight games behind the second-placed team, but lost to Orix in the Japan Series, missing out on winning the top spot in Japan for the second consecutive year for the first time in the team's history.

Yakult announced the coaching staff for the next season on the 1st.

Of these, Mr. Shima, a player-assistant coach who retired from active duty at the end of this season, will serve as the battery coach of the 1st army.

In addition, Yusuke Kawata, who served as head coach in Hiroshima this season, will return for the first time in three years and will be in charge of the outfield defense base running coach.

On the other hand, Koichi Ogata, the outfield baserunning coach of the 2nd Army, will leave the team when his contract expires.
