The Kodokan Cup of judo, the "All Japan Weight Category Championship" started in Chiba City, and Miku Tashiro, the representative of the Tokyo Olympics, won the women's 63 kg class.

This year's Kodokan Cup is contested by the top-level athletes in each weight class for the right to participate in the international competition leading to the Paris Olympics two years later.

The tournament, which started in Chiba City, was held on the 29th in seven women's classes, and Tashiro, a representative of last year's Tokyo Olympics, participated in the women's 63 kg class.

Tashiro, who had suffered from injuries since the Tokyo Olympics and was returning to the tournament this year, advanced to the finals with ippon wins until the semi-finals, where she faced 2020 Kodokan Cup runner-up Seiko WATANABE.

The match was tangled up in overtime due to the lack of a decisive goal despite both players attacking fiercely, and after two minutes of extra time, Tashiro took advantage of the opponent's gap and entered the hold and won the championship with an ippon victory.
