Gaël Monfils announced this Friday on Twitter to be forfeited for the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 which begins this Monday in the capital.

The French tennis star wants to rest to be fully fit for the 2023/2024 season.

The French N.1 Gaël Monfils will not participate in the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 which begins on Monday because he feels "limited in his movements", he announced on Twitter on Friday.

The 36-year-old Parisian hasn't played since suffering a foot injury in August.

He also became a father for the first time this month.

Hi friends, as you have seen this week on stream, I am still limited in my trips on the court.

So I won't be able to defend my chances at @RolexPMasters.

I'm going to take advantage of the end of the year to prepare for the next season pic.twitter.com/kMuohYUbJt
