In the judo federation's press release, Nyman is described as "the champion of comebacks".

After each Olympics he has participated in (London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2021) he has taken a break from the elite effort, only to return to the national team.

The break this time is due, among other things, to parental leave.

- Marcus may not be like the average elite athlete, but has always been keen to have other things besides investing in judo, says national team manager Robert Eriksson.

The first competition in the comeback will be the Grand Slam in Baku, Azerbaijan, which will be decided November 4-6 and is part of the world tour.

The long-term goal is the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The Swedish squad for Baku also includes Anna Bernholm and Ida Eriksson, as well as Axel Oscarsson, who is making his debut on the world tour.
